The Mini Moke is a vehicle based on the Mini and for the British Motor Corporation (BMC) by Alexandros Issigonis. The name comes from "Mini" to the car with which it shares many parts Moke and "Moke", which is an archaic dialect term "donkey".
The original project was the prototype of a military vehicle lighter style American Jeep, but the small wheels and low ground, is an off-road vehicle. The suite offers a version civilebasso costs easy maintenance of vehicles. The Moke finally crowned with success as a beach buggy - a popular "cult" of the vehicle, the Seychelles, Australia, USA and many tropical resorts in the Caribbean. The original Moke used identical engine, transmission and suspension of the Mini.
Mokes were Morris factory in Oxford, before the production of BMC Longbridge, Birmingham usine mêmeactuellement and abroad. 14500 Mokes in the United Kingdom from 1964 to 1968, 26000 in Australien 1966 to 1981, and 10,000 in Portugal from 1980 to 1993, when the production of the Moke ended.
When Issigonis designed mini there is another vehicle, except for the Mini parts, but with a robust body. This is an attempt, a company of military vehicles from Land Rover. Issigonis designed the Nuffield Guppy in a intentoo not on the market. In 1959, BMC has srking prototype of what is called "The Buckboard, later the" mini -Moke. These prototypes will be on the British Army as a parachute-droppable vehicle, but poor soils and low engine power does not meet the basic requirements for most off-road vehicles. Only the Royal Navy showed no interest in the entire Buckboard as a vehicle for the use of bridges are sus.
Very soon the promotional material for the lightness of the vehicle, with four Solditrabajadores Travel Moke Off-Road, and that the collection through the bumper and tubulars role as (inevitably) its low ground insufficient activity.
